WaMSLog “SMART” LOGGERS

WaMSLOG Smart Loggers measure inputs from various sensors and log these time-stamped measurements in an internal non-volatile memory. The time interval between measurements is user-specified.

At user specified intervals the data files are sent automatically by the internal GPRS module to the user or to N&Z’s web-based WaMSS Scada software.

The Scada stores the incoming data into an SQL database and automatically e-mails trends and other information to the user. The user can also easily compile adhoc reports by logging into the Scada. The data can be shared with other applications.

Various logger configurations are available suitable for various sensors, for battery-powered or externally-powered operation


FLOW LOGGER
Model - FLOW

• Input:- 1 pulse input (Flow).
• Housing:
- IP68 – aluminum – no display, 3m cable with junction box.
- IP67 with digital display, 3m cable with junction box.
• Power:
- Battery powered with typically 5 year’s life in standard configuration e.g. data transmission intervals >12 hours, pulse frequency <1Hz.
- External power facility: 9 to 24VDC, burst current 3A.
- Auto switch-over between battery and external power i.e. battery back-up.


FLOW/LEVEL/PRESSURE LOGGER
Model - FLP

• Inputs:
- 2 pulse inputs (Flow).
- Level/pressure – up to three pressure sensors for pressure or level.
• Housing:
- IP68 – aluminum – no display, 3m cable with junction box.
• Power:
- Battery powered with typically 3 year’s life in standard configuration e.g. data transmission intervals >12 hours, pulse frequency <1Hz.
- External power facility: 9 to 24VDC, burst current 3A.
- Auto switch over between battery and external power i.e. battery back-up.


MULTI-PURPOSE LOGGER
Model - MP

• Inputs:
- 2 pulse inputs (Flow)
- 2 analog inputs, 4-20mA for active sensors (external sensor supplies power).
- 2 analog inputs, 4-20mA, selectable for active sensors (sensor supplies power) or passive sensors (logger supplies power pulsed at the sampling window)
- Optional built-in pressure sensor with quick connector.
• Housing:
- IP68 – aluminium – no display, 3m cable with junction box.
• Power:
- External power: 9 to 24VDC.
- Battery back-up option with typically 2 year’s life in standard configuration.
- Auto switch over between external power and battery, i.e. battery back-up.


SPECIFICATIONS COMMON TO ALL LOGGERS

• Pulse input:
- Selectable relay debounce function
- Maximum pulse frequency: 30 Hz without debounce, or 10 Hz with debounce
- Detects pulses whether the pulse source is active (provides voltage) or passive (logger provides voltage).
• Logged data sent by built-in GSM modem via GPRS as a .csv file attached to an e-mail. Integrates seamlessly with the WaMSS Flow Scada.
• Logged data can be downloaded to pc via the on-board mini USB port.
• Logger memory capacity: more than 36 months at 15 minute intervals.
• Operating temperature: -10 to 60°C;
• Configured by intuitive Configuration Software on your pc, via standard mini USB cable.
• Approximate GPS coordinates of logger location.

Don’t Give Water Away For Free

CASE STUDY

An existing mechanical meter was integrated into the WaMSS by connecting an Isoil GPRS logger. Every morning the Water Manager observed the normal day/night flow pattern. Things ran smoothly until one Wednesday morning when he saw the flow rate collapse to zero and stay there. Line pressure continued its normal trend. He suspected a catastrophic failure of the mechanical meter. On-site inspection revealed damage to the rotor and grit lodged in the internals which caused the turbine to lock up.

Without the WaMSS, on a normal monthly measurement cycle it would have taken 3 to 6 weeks for the zero readings to be identified. During this time the flow would be unbilled, leading to a loss of revenue and inaccurate water balance. WaMSS saved the day - and made sure all the water was metered and billed!

Water Balance to International Water Association Model

N&Z’s WaMSS system produces Water Balance Diagrams based on IWA guidelines. Actual metered flows are sent from our battery powered mag meters, or from existing mechanical meters with GPRS or satellite loggers.

The flow measurements are automatically fed into the Water Balance diagram. There is a manual entry facility for your estimates of “un-billed, un-metered use”, “leakage on transmission and distribution mains” etc., as a percentage of the System Input or as absolute values.

These diagrams are produced automatically for the time window that you choose and are automatically e-mailed.
